Fantasy Land

I am playing in my first-ever fantasy football league this year - The Chuck Norris Experience. (I know, my friend Brent is a little silly.) Brian has played the last two years and had a great time so when Brent and Courtney were starting a league with girls I said, "yes, yes, sign me up!"

It came time for draft day and Brian was out of town so I was all on my own which made me a little nervous. (I did have Fenway for company.) But Brian and Matt and Kelsey were drafting at the same time just from different locations so I felt a little better about my daunting task. I took the last two hours at work to complete my fantasy study and had a good idea of who I'd pick from my second-in-the-draft position.

And I picked a pretty good team!! I'm the only person in our 12 team league who's 3-0!! Whoo Hoo! And I've already had to play two of the tougher opponents, so I'm feeling pretty good about my self. As Brian reminded me last week fantasy genius can be gone in a flash, but right now I'm just basking in my awesomeness. How's that for a girl in a man's world?

Dave Matthews

Last Saturday I went to my first Dave Matthews' concert in years. It was also my first Dave concert with Brian and was much different than going with Ally all those many, many times. I didn't even know he was coming to town, but my cousin Katie was coming to spend the night in Dallas and found the evening's entertainment.

A great time was had by all, and I was so excited to get to experience a Dave concert with Brian. It really made me realize how much I and my priorities have changed since my college years. Ally and I always found a way to get at least third row tickets. We'd eagerly anticipate every song and write it down to compile our set list. We’d hang out in the parking lot after the concert to let the traffic die down, listen to more Dave, drink another beer and maybe meet other crazy Dave fans. We always had an absolute blast during our “Dave Experiences.”

But Saturday night we sat on the lawn and talked to Katie and Rob through all the new songs that I didn’t know. (Gasp….Dave songs I didn’t know!!) I went to the bathroom twice! We rushed out before the last note of Watchtower to try to beat some traffic. And we listened to Guster in the car on the way home. We were home by midnight and later went to Matt and Kelsey’s to see friends we hadn’t seen in a while. It was soooo different than all those shows with Ally, but so great too. I could have seen any number of other bands and had just as much fun. Which brings to my changed priorities: I think I enjoyed the company more than the music.

French Teeth

My family went to the French Riviera (or Cote d'Azur if you're French) this past July for a wonderful 10-day vacation. The water was a beautiful blue, the sun was warm, the beach at Saint Tropez was perfectly sandy if you like sandy beaches. And there were lots of young French families on summer vacation. I was simply amazed at how many French families seemed to have three - five kids strapped in strollers or roaming through the streets. I guess they can afford to have so many children because they don't have to buy them toothpaste or dental floss, braces or regular cleanings.

But, eww....pass me the toothbrush, please!

Upgrade

I thought with my resurgence in the blogging world, I could use an update. What do you think? Is it too blue? Hard to read? Let me know!

History Quiz

I know I'm not the greatest history buff, but it's pretty sad that college seniors managed to fail this quiz. Really fail....scoring less than a 55%!

So take the quiz, and let me know how you did. I'll go ahead and tell you I did a little better than those college seniors. And it inspired me to do a little Google work: John Locke - now I remember - he's not just the wacky bald guy on Lost after all!

On another note, I'm really going to be better about posting on my blog because they might delete it for lack of activity. Did you see? No new posts since June!! OK, I don't really think they'd delete it, but I will try to be better. My life is full of interesting stuff, and I know the three of you who read this really want to know all about it! :)

Thanks for sticking with me!
Love,
Meagan
