Christmastime

I have made four trips to the mall, wrapped almost all our presents, baked many dozen cookies, and made it to two Christmas parties. I think I'm ready for Christmas to be here. It kind of snuck up on me this year, but I'm finished with the planning, and I'm ready to enjoy.

We're heading to Houston to see Brian's family early this week, and then coming back to the Dallas area to spend Christmas Day with my family. And next Monday we're off to the Caribbean! I can't wait to lie around in the sun and do nothing. It'll be a wonderful trip.

Brian and I went to a homemade Christmas ornament party on Saturday night. Basically, all the guests brought crafty ornaments for the hosts' tree and they gave out prizes for the most creative offering. We didn't win any prizes, but Brian did an excellent job on our wreath! I'm so glad he's semi-crafty because I'm not even close.

Here are a few picture updates on Baby S. He's just growing away and should be around 3 pounds by now. I had to drink my yucky glucose drink last week, and I haven't heard anything from the doctor's office yet, so I'm praying that's a good sign.

I promise, the belly is so much bigger in real life. It gets in the way of all kinds of important things like sitting down and standing up and sleeping. But I'm so ready to meet this little guy; every minute of big belly will be completely worth it.

Winter!

Congrats to my friend Emily and her family on the arrival of their not-so-little girl Harper! She is 9lbs 5oz and is doing well as is mom.

We had snow flakes here last night. I couldn't believe it. It was cold and cloudy when I left work at 6:00, but it was dry. I heard what I thought was rain once I got home, but it was dark out, and I didn't go outside to check. So when Brian got home I peaked out and there were big white fluffy flakes falling. They were so pretty and didn't stick to anything. My favorite kind of snow!

And now it's just really cold. We get so spoiled here that temperatures in the 20s always surprise me. We had our A/C running on Monday. I don't even have a coat that buttons over my belly.

I finally broke down and bought a Snoogle body pillow yesterday. It was very comfortable, but made all the getting out of bed to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night a little tricky. But I figure anything that makes sleeping easier for me this last trimester is worth trying.

Friday Afternoon

Tonight is Brian's annual office Christmas party. It's so early this year, and I'm having a really hard time coming up with something appropriate to wear. One of the hardest things about being pregnant is the serious wardrobe shrinkage.

(My wardrobe is the only thing in my life suffering such a fate, I can guarantee you!)

Fenway has been playing outside all day. It's a beautiful, sunny cold day and the squirrels are out in full force so he's just in doggy heaven, but he's managed to find something horribly stinky in the backyard and he's really smelly. Lucky dog is getting a bath and a haircut tomorrow. I just need to keep him off the sofa in the meantime.

We have a busy, busy weekend that includes putting up the Christmas tree and outside lights and picking out paint colors for Little Boy's room. His furniture and bedding are here, but we don't want to set it up until the room is painted, so I'm in a bit of a hurry for that project. I want to have it all finished in time to sit and watch the Cowboys and Steelers on Sunday afternoon. Wish us luck!

I'm Updating!

Welcome December! I can't believe it's already here, and I'm already almost in my third trimester. This pregnancy has just flown by!

We ordered our crib, nursery furniture and bedding last week. The extra bedroom is almost cleaned out and ready for painting. Our stroller is here. And we have spreadsheets listing all our possible names and all the stuff Baby S will need. So we've made some progress, but we still have a lot to do between now and March 7.

We spent Thanksgiving in Houston, drove straight to Mom and Dad's on Saturday and didn't get back home until late Sunday night so we didn't have time to start any Christmas decorating last weekend. I have a few santas out, but our tree is still in the attic. It just won't feel like the Christmas season in our house until our tree is twinkling.

This year I am thankful for prelit Christmas trees. I just don't know if I'd be able to string all those hundreds of lights at this point. It just might do me in. Ha!

We've been so bad about taking belly progress pictures, but here are a few as proof that we're really having a baby.
